History
About Us: Muskoka District Rentals was founded in 2013 after founders Ross Halloran & Maryrose Coleman developed their full service rental agency model by initially renting their own personal properties in Muskoka, Toronto and Florida over a 5 year period.. After settling in Port Carling in 2013, they were approached by several cottage owner clients seeking a trusted partner to safely manage short-term rentals of their waterfront properties and thus Muskoka District Rentals (aka MDR) was born. Since then, MDR’s mandate has followed the same guest service principles the founders applied to their own properties; that is to deliver full-service end to end Cottage Rental Agency services tailored discriminating cottage owners looking to safely generate rental income to offset their annual costs of ownership and carefully screened guests looking for unique waterfront properties and curated guest experiences.

As a serial entrepreneur, Maryrose’s extensive background includes working as one of the first women on the trading floor of the Toronto Stock Exchange, and subsequently as an investment advisor with Merrill Lynch. An avid art collector with a keen eye for interior design, Maryrose has designed and built luxury residences in some of Toronto’s most exclusive neighborhoods, including Moore Park & Lawrence Park. More recently, Maryrose took over the helm of the luxury cottage rental company Muskoka District Rentals in Port Carling.
Ross Halloran
Founder, President
Ross Halloran brings a wealth of business experience to the luxury rentals industry. An executive-level business development and marketing professional, Ross has over 30 years experience helping Fortune 500 Canadian, U.S. and International clients execute successful sales, advertising, marketing & loyalty programs. Ross applies a proven, needs-based, analytical approach to customer service. For vacation property owners in Muskoka and other popular lake districts in Central Ontario, Ross maximizes property values by safely generating rental income for his clients while applying best practices to help mitigate other costs of ownership.

Amazing getaway with the family! Getting our large family together is always a special occasion, but enjoying it at Winsome Silver Lake was special. The cottage is beautiful, spectacular, and very well equipped. The cottage was extremely clean and had everything you could possible need. The high ceiling and big windows made the view of the lake be appreciated by all. Overall, amazing place and team. They went above and beyond to make our stay perfect and memorable. We’ll definitely be back again!!

Summer Love Lazarou
We rented a property north of Parry Sound last weekend and, although I was initially very nervous to rent a “luxury” airbnb, we had a 10/10 experience. Communication could have been a little better at first, but after our initial confusion (on my end mostly) it was smooth sailing. The property was AMAZINGLY maintained and the pictures did not do it justice. MDR checked in on us after the first day and was very responsive. We had no issues at all and the weekend was perfect. I would 1000% book using MDR again in the future.

I would highly recommend booking through this company for your next getaway up north. Their responses were prompt, the home was stunning to say the least, and we truly enjoyed our stay at the Sand and Fun on Georgian Bay. The home was clean and beautiful, with excellent amenities. My husband and his friends so enjoyed the basketball/tennis court. We had a paddle boat, canoe, and a neat gazebo outside that was screened in so bugs were not an issue at night.
I cannot wait to book our getaway for next year!

We had a large party, eight adults and five children, for a 70th birthday celebration and rented Sand & Fun on Georgian Bay. A huge property with its own small private beach, a private tennis court, a canoe and a small pedal boat. The house is large enough that even all these people never got in each others way, but we could all sit down for meals together either inside, or more often out on the deck. It was the perfect venue for this kind of event and I’d highly recommend it for large extended family groups like ours. Deena and Maryrose at Muskoka District rentals made the whole process easy and even arranged early check-in for us so the babies could get their naps. More than lived up to expectations.

Renting through Muskoka District Rentals has been nothing but an enjoyable experience. Working with Deena has been an absolute pleasure. I rented a cottage back with Deena a few months ago, for early June. Due to the flooding in Muskoka, we were forced to cancel the rental as we could not access the island. Deena went above and beyond to ensure that she found us a new rental to accommodate myself and 14 of my friends for the same weekend in early June. The cottage she found looks incredible, and we cannot wait to be there.
I would recommend anyone work with Muskoka District Rentals. I could not find one negative thing to say about the renting experience with them, and would rate them a 10 out of 10.

Enjoyed our stay at the Kahshe Lake cottage. Communications with the MDR team for booking and followup while at the cottage was easy with quick replies. We felt valued and will definitely use your rental services in future. The property was like a resort with a number of tranquil “pods” to enjoy some quiet time or large enough to comfortably celebrate together. The outdoor showers were a hit as was the swimming and screened dinning area.

I want to brag about Muskoka District Rentals. I had a large group (16 people!!) for a corporate bonding weekend. The customer services was first rate… helping me select the best cottage for activities/sleeping arrangements/our budget. The cottage exceeded our expectations… spotless, stocked with supplies. Our cottage was on an island, Deena was there to meet us. Even 20 minutes late on our end, she was so incredible and so friendly. This is surely going to be an annual tradition. The property was terrific for our 3-generation weekend where we took good advantage of the indoor and outdoor amenities.
